The daily maintenance of forklift parts is mainly based on cleaning, lubricating and checking the usage status. The forklift driver should strictly follow the daily care and technical requirements and carry it out once per shift. If the forklift is abnormal, it should be handled in time. Daily maintenance includes daily inspection before use, inspection during work and maintenance after returning to the warehouse.

The specific items are as follows:
1. Daily check before use
1. Check whether the fuel, lubricating oil, hydraulic oil and coolant are adequately added;
2. Check whether there is any leakage of oil and water in the whole forklift;
3. Check the working conditions of various instruments, signals, lighting, switches and buttons and other ancillary equipment (check whether the horn and each lamp can usually work, whether the turn signal lamp flashes normally, whether the light is damaged and whether it is covered).
4. Check the technical and tightening conditions of steering, braking, tires and traction devices.
5. Check the technical condition and tightness of the lifting mechanism, tilting mechanism, fork frame and hydraulic transmission system.
6. Check items before starting the engine: Whether there is oil or water leakage (patrol the body for a week to check for traces of oil or water leakage, especially check the joints of the hydraulic pipeline, oil cylinders, pumps, and control valves).
7. Check items after the engine is started:
A. Abnormal sound and vibration (especially check whether the engine and the liquid oil pump have abnormal noise and vibration).
B. Engine exhaust colour (exhaust colour is colourless or light blue is standard).
8. Engine oil gauge: check with an oil gauge and add the oil if it is insufficient. If the engine oil is dirty or discoloured severely, the oil should be replaced.
9. Check whether the tools and accessories are complete.

2. Inspection items of various forklift parts at work:
1. Whether the tire pressure meets the specified strain, the tire’s wear and damage, and the wheel hub’s deformation and deterioration. In addition, check whether there is any foreign matter caught in the tire, and tighten the wheel nut according to the specified torque.
2. Cooling water volume (remove the radiator cover, check if the water is sufficient, fill it up if insufficient).
3. The elasticity of the V-belt: press the centre of the belt to check whether its deflection meets the standard. If the belt is scratched or cracked, replace it with a new belt.
4. Oil quantity in working oil tank: check with oil meter and add enough is insufficient.
5. Pedal action: check whether the pedal is too heavy, whether it can bounce back, and the micro-motion pedal and the brake pedal are linked.
6. Steering wheel: The circumference’s average clearance of the steering wheel is 30-60mm. Check whether the steering wheel is deflected, whether it cannot be controlled when running in a straight line, and whether the steering is too heavy. In addition, check whether it moves up and down.
7. Fuel capacity of the fuel tank: Turn the start switch to the “power” position and look at the position of the fuel gauge pointer on the instrument panel. If the amount of oil is insufficient, fill it up. When refuelling, pay attention to keeping the refuelling port and the oil clean.
8. Instrument: Check whether the engine oil pressure warning light and charging warning light are off and whether the pointers of the engine water temperature gauge and the torque converter oil temperature gauge are in the green zone.
9. Chain tension state: Raise the fork 10-15mm, press the centre of the chain with your fingers, and see if the deflection of the left and suitable chains are the same.
10. Pedal: Check whether the braking effect is sufficient or only unilateral braking. Whether the forklift can move forward slowly when stepping on the jog pedal. Whether to brake when stepping on further.

3. Maintenance items after returning to the warehouse
1. Clean the outside of the forklift
2. Add fuel, check lubricating oil, coolant, hydraulic oil, etc.
3. Check whether the V-belt is in good condition and tightness.
4. Check the tire pressure.
5. Check the tightness of the forklift frame and the fastening bolts of the lifting chain.
6. Check the fittings of the hydraulic lifting cylinder, tilt hydraulic cylinder, steering hydraulic cylinder and all pipe joints for leakage.
7. Eliminate faults found during work.
8. Check and arrange the tools and accessories on the vehicle.
9. The following items should be added every 40-50h of work:
1) Clean the filters of each forklift;
2) Clean the outside of the forklift battery, check the height of the electrolyte level and the cleanliness and tightening of the terminals, connecting wires;
3) For gasoline-powered forklifts, check the loose bolts on the outside;
4) Check and tighten the loose bolts on the outside of the entire vehicle assembly;
5) For coolant pump bearings, universal joint kingpins, horizontal and straight tie rod ball pins, tilt hydraulic cylinder flat pins, three-link centre pins, fork frames, rollers, etc.
Lubricate the parts;
6) Lubricate and adjust the lifting chain.
